Biography
Olli-Pekka Vainio is a Finnish theologian and professor of dogmatics at the University of Helsinki. He has previously worked as a university lecturer in dogmatics and as a docent in ecumenism at the university’s Faculty of Theology. He defended his doctoral dissertation in theology in 2004 on the development of the Lutheran doctrine of justification. He is an expert in the philosophy of religion and the thinking of Martin Luther and Søren Kierkegaard, among other things.
Vainio has been a visiting researcher at Princeton University (2008, 2016–2017) and the University of Oxford (2011–2012). At Princeton, he was involved in a NASA-funded research project in the field of astrobiology.
